Recent studies have demonstrated that between 50%-60% of the general population have insufficient, if not deficient, 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels (25(OH)D). Repletion of 25(OH)D levels through diet alone is inadequate since most foods contain little vitamin D. The best source for vitamin D is the sun, however, dermatological recommendations consider this source to be inconsistent with good skin health. Vital-D Rx™ is the first prescription multivitamin that addresses these concerns. Taken daily, Vital-D Rx™ will provide 52,500 IU of cholecalciferol per month, along with B complex vitamins, vitamin C, zinc and folic acid. Vital-D Rx™ initially was marketed to the chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end stage renal disease (ESRD) patient, however the importance of maintaining adequate levels of vitamin D applies to everyone. If you have any questions regarding Vital-D Rx™, please feel free to call us at 800-879-4755. For CKD and ESRD patients, studies have shown that 80%-95% have low 25(OH)D levels. The Kidney Dialysis Outcome Quality Initiative (KDOQI) recommends treatment of vitamin D deficiency starting with CKD stage 3. One Vital-D Rx™ per day provides KDOQI's recommendation of 50,000 IU per month for CKD patients stages 3 and 4.
